I'm a Lucky Girl...er, Soap Maker!

So I think my family is getting tired of having to give up the kitchen/house for the soap. How do I know this?
Well, hubby bought me this...

Pretty big hint, don't you think?
Now I know it's a trailer. In its former life it was used as an office. It needed electricity...
Here's one of the boys digging a trench for the electrician to hook me up to the pole...

...THANKS BOYS! But I still need plumbing before I can really move in. This is a view from the front to the back...
...and the back to the front (Please ignore the stuff. I'm storing my show tables and display items in there right now.)

Soon it will be filled with drying racks and all sorts of lavender, and soap making paraphrenalia. My own Creative Space. And this sweet little bump out? I just may have a loveseat that would fit here perfectly...

...because I might need to take frequent breaks to dream up new soaps. Or just daydream. Okay, maybe an occasional nap, too. But I can't keep calling it "it." She needs a name. Soapin' Trailer, Soap Shed, Soap Box on Wheels? I don't know. Nothing has really hit me yet. If you have a creative name I'd love to hear it. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

And, before I forget, just for my hubby, thank you for your faith and support!

Have a wonderful weekend!
Cathy
P.S. Lulabelle is re-stocked with soap, including Sweet Prarie Sage, my current fave!

What an awesome idea! I envy you for this option. Here in Germany we wouldn't be able to use such a space for commercial soaping. Our soaping rooms have to be tiled and meet ridiculously high standards that are approved by an official person who gives their ok, or not. If not, you better not be caught selling your soap. Sucks. To think what all gets dumped into our food and used in the cosmetic industry, but I'm not allowed to make soap in my kitchen or my trailer? sheesh! I think "The Soap Shed" sounds perfect :)

That would indeed suck! We would have far, far fewer soapers if they had to have a commercial kitchen. The number of soapers on Etsy is amazing to me. They're making soap in apartments, houses, condo's, all over...and soap trailers (lol) :) We do have very stringent standards for any food processing. Even church kitchens have to be approved for commercial kitchens. And the rules are mind boggling. I do believe a person should know their soaper and their habits, though. And I believe in transparency. Like listing ingredients on the soap, allowing people to see the process and so on. I hope to have a brick and mortar workshop one day but till then, this will be great!
